Detailed question
I was told by my mechanic during free inspection of my Honday Accord 1998 that the main relay has to be replaced. I am not going to pay him several hundred dollars to do it when I can do it myself with some guidance. I have a attached a picture of the same - can you please confirm if that is indeed a main relay and whether its safe to remove and replace it? Also, is it okay to buy a replacement Main Relay from Pep Boys? |

Clarification # 1
Guru: will Your Car Run with your current relay?
Seeker: Ans: It runs sometimes and some times it doesn't and makes clicking sound. But I am not 100% sure if this the main cause. Hence, I want to replace it myself or have my brother fix it. I am willing to pay under $10 if I can get the perfect advice and steps. The bidding Gurus must update their Guru Profiles so I can trust that you genuinely have auto repair experience.
Clarification # 2
Guru: Does the car have problems starting when its hot, but starts fine when its cold?
Seeker: Ans: It's the other way round. The occasions on which it doesn't start is usually the first thing on a cold morning. Once it has started and I go to a Grocery store or something, it keeps working when I restart it to come back home.
